HBO Actual Time host Invoice Maher defended Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, saying he was “not down” with fining somebody for talking their opinion.
Del Rio was fined $100,000 after calling the Capitol riot a “mud up” compared to the 2020 riots following the homicide of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. Del Rio later apologized, calling his alternative of phrases “irresponsible and negligent.”
"They fined him, the group fined him, $100,000 for this opinion. Fining folks for an opinion. I'm not down with that," Maher stated Friday.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera issued an announcement on social media, noting that Del Rio has the “proper to voice his opinion,” however that “phrases have penalties.”
Maher blasted Rivera for saying Del Rio has the correct to talk his opinion.
