Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder mentioned he needs to remain in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin, regardless of Moscow not giving up on the battle with Ukraine.

“I don’t wish to surrender the chance to speak with President Putin,” Schröder informed the Sunday version of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

Schröder was Germany’s chancellor from 1998 to 2005, and after leaving workplace he linked up with Russian power giants Gazprom and Rosneft. He and Putin have been pals for a few years.
