Creator Salman Rushdie’s attacker pleads not responsible to tried homicide | World News [ad_1]

A 24-year outdated New Jersey man charged with tried homicide and assault for attacking writer Salman Rushdie has pleaded not responsible.

Hadi Matar of Fairview, New Jersey was arraigned in centralised arraignment on Saturday and was remanded with out bail at Chautauqua County Jail.

Authorities with New York State Police advised PTI that Matar pleaded not responsible and was held within the Chautauqua County Jail.

Matar was arrested Friday by the Bureau of Prison Investigation for tried homicide 2nd diploma (B Felony) and assault 2nd diploma.

Matar was processed at State Police Jamestown and transported to Chautauqua County Jail. Matar was arraigned in centralised arraignment on Saturday and "remanded with out bail to the Chautauqua County Jail," the New York State Police mentioned in a press release.

Rushdie, the 75-year-old Mumbai-born author, who confronted Islamist loss of life threats for years after writing "The Satanic Verses", was stabbed by Matar on stage on Friday whereas he was being launched on the occasion of the Chautauqua Establishment in Western New York.
