Azerbaijan on Sunday scolded US Home of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi for saying that Baku had began a border battle with Armenia, saying the "unsubstantiated and unfair" remarks have been a severe blow to peace efforts.

"The unsubstantiated and unfair accusations leveled by Pelosi in opposition to Azerbaijan are unacceptable," the international ministry stated in an announcement. "Pelosi is called a pro-Armenian politician."

"It is a severe blow to the efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the international ministry stated.
