Israeli archaeologists yesterday reported the invention of opium residues on 3,500-year-old ceramic items, proof that helps the idea that this hallucinogenic drug was utilized in funeral rituals. The joint investigation by the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Weizmann Institute of Science started in 2012 when excavations within the Israeli metropolis of Yehud revealed a collection of tombs from the Late Bronze Age.
