Sheryl Lee Ralph wins Emmy for 'Abbott Elementary,' breaks out into tune

“Abbott Elementary” star Sheryl Lee Ralph used her Emmy acceptance speech to remind the viewers – and viewers in all places – that she’s bought main pipes.

Whereas on stage, Ralph, who received the Emmy for excellent supporting actress in a comedy for her position as seasoned instructor Barbara Howard, broke out into Dianne Reeves’ tune “Endangered Species.”

“I'm an endangered species, however I sing no sufferer’s tune,” she sang on the ceremony, bringing all the viewers to its toes. “I'm a lady, I'm an artist. And I do know the place my voice belongs.”

“To anybody, who has ever, ever had a dream and thought your dream wasn’t, wouldn’t, couldn’t come true – I'm right here to inform you that that is what believing seems like,” she mentioned to applause. “That is what striving seems like. And don’t you ever ever quit on you.”

The actress thanked her co-star and “Abbott Elementary” creator, Quinta Brunson, for her help, in addition to her husband, Pennsylvania State Sen. Vincent Hughes and their youngsters.
