Wizard of woke: Director to revamp The Wizard of Oz with LGBT illustration

Writer and director Kenya Barris is switching out The Wizard of Oz's Mud Bowl group and choosing an LGBT theme in his adaptation of the traditional movie.

“Now we’re going to show a mirror on the place we’re at proper now and take disparate characters from the LGBTQ group, from totally different cultural communities and socioeconomic communities, and inform a narrative that displays the world. I believe that is one of the best time to try this,” he advised Selection.

Final month, Warner Bros. introduced Barris as the variation's author and director. Barris's Khalabo Ink Society can be producing the reimagined traditional.
