“This is likely one of the most full skulls ever discovered,” Sotheby’s Senior Vice President Cassandra Hatton mentioned, noting that it's round 70% full. “It ranks within the prime 10-12 skulls interval; of the dozen which are in museum collections, this ranks amongst them.”
The cranium stands at 6 toes, 7 inches tall, and weighs greater than 200 kilos.
The T. rex cranium was present in Harding County, South Dakota, and was excavated between 2020 and 2021. Hatton mentioned that the remainder of the skeleton has not been discovered, noting that the dig website was weathered and a lot of the skeleton had eroded.
