Italy's Traore calls out group mates over 'offensive' Christmas current

A Black Italian rugby participant accused his group mates of racism on Wednesday after they gave him a “rotten banana” throughout a ‘Secret Santa’ nameless present alternate.

Cherif Traore wrote on Instagram that he acquired the undesirable current, inside a garbage bag, throughout a Christmas dinner with fellow Benetton Treviso gamers.

“Aside from discovering it an offensive gesture, what damage me probably the most was to see that almost all of my group mates who had been current had been laughing. As if it was all regular,” he stated.

“I haven’t slept all night time,” the 28-year-old added.

Traore was born in Guinea however has lived in Italy because the age of seven. He performs prop for the northern Treviso membership and for the Italian nationwide group.

He stated he usually doesn't react to “racist jokes” so as to not make enemies.

In soccer, Black gamers are routinely jeered by followers, whereas in October Paola Egonu, a Black volleyball participant, introduced she was taking a break from the Italy nationwide group following feedback questioning her nationality.
