Cori Bush backs 'Squad' member Bowman towards Marjorie Taylor Greene

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) rejected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) equating the N-word with being referred to as a "white supremacist" on Friday, claiming the conservative's "ignorance is astoundingly white supremacist."

The congresswoman took to Twitter on Friday to again her fellow "Squad" member Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and to say there was a distinction between calling a black individual the N-word, which has been used to dehumanize black individuals, and calling somebody a white supremacist.

"[Marjorie Taylor Greene,] your ignorance is astoundingly white supremacist. No, calling you a white supremacist IS NOT equal to calling somebody the n-word," Bush tweeted. "Traditionally a white individual calling a black individual that phrase has been about energy. It's used to indicate the supposed superiority of white individuals and to dehumanize black individuals. Its use usually precipitates violence towards our neighborhood with out penalty or repercussions. This has been the case for generations."

"You don’t must ban books, you have to learn them," Bush continued. "I stand with Jamaal."

Bush's tweets come after a heated trade between Greene and Bowman on the steps of the Capitol on Wednesday. Greene later stated she felt "threatened" by Bowman, who characterised the trade as a "mild back-and-forth."

“The reality of the matter is that we had a light-weight back-and-forth on the steps of Capitol Hill, surrounded by reporters and employees. We will roll again the tapes and see her characterization of our dialog is an utter and blatant lie," Bowman stated in a press release. “That is, traditionally, what white supremacists do. They attempt to dehumanize Black individuals, Black pores and skin, and Black humanity — in order that we will be focused for hurt.”

Greene rejected the characterization and stated she took offense to being referred to as a white supremacist.

"That's like calling an individual of colour the N-word, which ought to by no means occur," Greene stated Thursday. "Calling me a white supremacist is the same as that, and that's improper."

Greene claimed that Wednesday's trade was not the primary time that she feared for her life when it got here to Bowman, claiming the New York consultant shouted "on the high of his lungs" that Greene was a white supremacist whereas she was in New York protesting former President Donald Trump's indictment.
