Leipzig writer Jan Kuhlbrodt honored within the LCB – Muricas News

The Alfred Döblin Prize, donated by the author Günter Grass (1927-2015), goes to the Leipzig-based writer Jan Kuhlbrodt (“The Return of the Animals”). The 57-year-old obtained the EUR 15,000 award on Saturday on the Berlin Literary Colloquium.

From the standpoint of the jury, which included the Tagesspiegel editor Gregor Dotzauer along with Andrea Zederbauer and Nico Bleutge, Kuhlbrodt wrote a multi-layered prose with “Cripple Textual content or Strolling”, “which offers with its personal MS with nice fearlessness, astonishing comedy and theoretical wit -disease”.

Jan Kuhlbrodt was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1966 and has lived in Leipzig since learning on the German Literature Institute. Amongst different issues, he printed the volumes of poetry “Stötzer’s Tune” and “The Return of the Animals” in addition to the novels “Schneckenparadies” and “Das Modell”.

The Alfred Döblin Prize has been awarded each two years since 1979 for an unfinished prose manuscript. The youngest recipients embrace Deniz Utlu, Ulrich Woelk and María Cecilia Barbetta.
