Prince Harry, his partner Meghan Markle and her mother have been involved in a “near catastrophic” automotive chase after being adopted by paparazzi, Reuters reported quoting Duke of Sussex’ spokesperson. The incident occurred after the couple attended an awards ceremony in New York.
“Last night time time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms Ragland have been involved in a near catastrophic automotive chase by the fingers of a hoop of extraordinarily aggressive paparazzi,” the spokesperson acknowledged in a press launch.
“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in a lot of near collisions involving completely different drivers on the freeway, pedestrians and two NYPD (New York Police Division) officers,” the spokesperson added.
The event was the first public event Prince Harry attended since his father King Charles’ coronation. Meghan Markle was not present on the ceremony. Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal roles in 2020 and moved to the US wishing to flee intense media harassment, they acknowledged.
Earlier too, Prince Harry has spoken about press intrusion into the lifetime of royal family members- which he blames for the dying of his mother Princess Diana. Diana was killed in a high-speed chase in 1997 after making an attempt to flee the paparazzi who had been following her whereas she drove by Paris.
